Part1 - Hidden Treasures of Antique: The Travel

A 4-hour trip from the city of love (Iloilo City, Philippines) is an adventure that we will never forget.

Join me, Yen, and Jucee as we revisited the Province of Antique, Philippines.

After a long wait, Jucee's toxic duty has come to an end. It was about 1pm when I fetched him from the hospital and we immediately passed by Yen's place. We were very excited and what's gonna happen was uncertain. The weather wasn't really cooperative because Typhoon Egay is about to enter the Philippine area of responsibility. But no one has stopped us from conquering a weekend off that's surely fun-filled.

Thumbs Up for Nang Palang's super delicious Buko Pie located in Trapiche, Oton, Iloilo.

Our trip wasn't complete without stopping by Oton, Iloilo for our favorite "baon" (snacks) which is Nang Palang's Buko Pie. The mouth watering freshly baked pie is a double thumbs up experience that one must try.

We surpassed the zigzag road from San Joaquin, Iloilo to Antique Province. On our way to the highlight of our trip which is the Malalison, Island, we dropped by some breathe-taking scenes and of course - for the love of Medicine, we visited a hospital.

Let's take a look at these...
Welcome to AMC.
Jucee spent sometime here as a resident doctor before he finally decided to go on training. The staff we met were very friendly and accommodating.

After a short hospital visit, we proceeded to San Jose, Antique and experienced the past in the present times.

This is an old cathedral's ruins that stood still in the test of time.
What's also amazing in the place are the cemeteries located at the sea side.

San Pedro in Antique Province.
We also had some "pasaway" moments. How about taking a picture in a busy national road and the worst was in a bridge? Hehe.
Our never tiring companion. On her selfie shot.hehe. :)
Yoga moments with Yen in front of a relaxing sunset view along the national road.

Aside from the natural wonders we witnessed, the very rich history of the province is also an experience at its best.

After all dropping by in those places, atlast we arrived in our final stop of the day - Culasi, Antique Province. Thanks to our friend Kevin and his family for the very warm accommodation. We spent overnight in Culasi for tomorrow's most awaited island tour - Malalison Island, Antique Province.

On our way to Malalison Island, Antique Province.

The excitement we felt was overflowing and we enjoyed every bit of the tour. A 30-minute pump boat ride was indeed a stress reliever and we felt so blessed because the weather was good and fair at that moment. We spent 4 hours in the Island and discovered new things that we didn't expect to really exist in the place. (More of Malalison in the Part 2 of this blog)

We returned to the town of Culasi with satisfaction and surely, we will return.

Before going back to Iloilo City, we passed by Tibiao, Antique. Despite the thunderstorms, we were able to meet our goal. The last stop was Bugtong Bato falls and the "Kawa" experience.

Enjoy the cold waters of the falls.

Then have a relaxing "kawa" moment with friends.
Our Antique adventures didn't end just like this. Because of the undesirable weather, we were stuck in the place for some time due to a landslide. God's so good to us since it happened just few minutes earlier before we reached the site. We managed to pass by the land falls with the help of the residents and we went home safe and sound.

To conclude our trip, we had a sumptuous dinner at Domeng's in Maig-ao, Iloilo, also a must try restaurant for travellers.

Part 2 - Hidden Treasures of Antique: Malalison Island

One fine sunny Sunday morning turned into a memorable day for us - me, Yen, Jucee and Kevin. Wonderful sunny morning - best time to conquer the island. Against the light. What's important is the background. Hehe. :) The pump boat ride was fun and smooth sailing. Our trip was blessed for it did not rain, hassle free and what we felt was all excitement. The boat can be rented from 700+ or more and will assist you back and forth Culasi town. We brought some breakfast meals for our lunch and thanks to Kevin for that! Malalison Island, Province of Antique Touch down. The white sand and the clear cold waters were very inviting that time and to go there after summer is a good idea. Haha... We owned the Island until... look who I met! My elementary and college friends. :) Sim and Leomel were my elementary classmates while Cherry was my college classmate. That was really surprising! I and Cherry was planning before hand to explore the Island with our very dear frie

Manila Stories 3: Street Foods in Manila

I was once fond of buying streetfoods. Turning back time, it was also one of the enjoyed past times I had with my friends. Street foods are ready to eat goodies sold in public places. Often, from a portable food booth, a cart or some in food trucks. According to a study from Food and Agriculture Organization, 2.5 billion people eat street food everyday. Today, people try and purchase street food for some reasons: It is sold for a reasonable price, it is flavorful, to experience an ethnic and authentic cuisines and some for a nostalgic experience. In the Philippines, street foods are very common too. Here are some of Pinoy favorite street foods to choose from: Calamares: deeply fried squid cut as rings covered dipped in egg and flour. Price: P3.00 Boiled banana, banana turon (banana on a lumpia wrapper topped with mascovado sugar) and banana fritters. Price: P10.00 - P15.00 Fried chicken: deeply fried crispy chicken. Best for lunch and an all time favorite for c
